Ask anyone who has trained for any marathon properly and they will tell you its along hard slog - week after week of building up the long runs and gradually tuning yourself to the ultimate challenge of 26 miles 385 yards.
I have had a solid 14 weeks training going into London, no injuries to speak of (a bad cold for a week which knocked one of my long runs for six and left me walking the last few miles of it), less races than last year which I thought was my downfall but the two races I did do I did not meet my targets - only 90mins for Wilmslow half marathon when my target was to go under 86 and 2:25 at Trimpell 20 which was 9 minutes off last years pace.
Hopefully all would bode well on the day itself as I also had a good two week taper going into the marathon as well... we will see
